Hello everyone! I wanted to take a moment to write about something that is SO vital to our UWP program, and that is host families. I'm mainly writing this with my Denver audience in mind, but UWP travels all over, so someday, this could apply to you. When UWP comes to town, we are able to do so because of the goodwill of the community in which we stay. Meals are donated, venues are donated, and most importantly, housing is donated! We don't stay in hotels or hostels when we travel...we stay with local families who welcome us into their family, feed us, get us to and from our meeting places everyday, and spend time with us on host family day. It's been one of my most favorite experiences so far! Being a host family is voluntary, and in return, each family receives 2 tickets to our show and a chance to share culture and fun times with UWP students. I highly encourage anyone interested to contact the UWP office for hosting in Denver. The next cast will be staging in the Denver area from July 12-August 12 and they will be in need of host families. Highlands Ranch folk, I know we're not the closest to the location, but our family will be hosting and it would be fun to have other Uppies near by to share meals and adventures with! Think about it!
