Host Family Day: Saturday in Konstanz, Germany

Saturday we decided would be a great time to explore Germany...cuz why the heck not...we only lived 20 minutes away! (How cool is Europe? I mean...really! Switzerland, France, Germany...all within 1 week?!) We slept in again, had some breakfast, then hit the road for Konstanz which was JUST over the Swiss/German border.

It was snowing/raining, yet again, but we didn't let that get us down! We explored the Lago mall for a little bit (holy SMOKES are prices high! 40 euro for a dinky little belt? I don't think so!) then we went out into the more historic part of the city. Konstanz is right on the lake, so we ventured out and saw the water and the surrounding area. Chip from UWP was also at the lake and managed to cleverly photo bomb us as we were taking a family photo - we had no idea he was there!

Photobomber Chip. Too funny!
 Love locks on the fence
An afternoon coffee/hot chocolate break
We kept running into this AWESOME dog! I LOVED him! He was so BIG AND FLUFFY!
Exploring a church...YAY churches! (A joke with our host siblings! Giselle and I think old churches are awesome, Raphael and Milena think they are "BORING!")

Swiss/German border!
One foot in Switzerland, one foot in Germany! How COOL!

After a great day of shopping in Germany, we headed home and prepared to have Raclette for dinner! I knew fondue was very Swiss, but I had no idea what Raclette was until we prepared to come to Switzerland! OH MY is it yummy! You heat the cheese up and then scrape it off onto your plate and you eat it with veggies and fruit, etc. Kevin, Frank and the Schwizer family came over to eat with us!

Then after dinner settled, Giselle and I jumped up to help Dagmar make Swiss bread (cuz you know, here they make their own bread all the time! WHAT?!?)
"Cross for the Swiss" were Dagmar's instructions!
All done - and I was mighty proud!

WE DID IT! Baker's extraordinare!

We also enjoyed Ooey-gooey butter cake prepared by Kevin, Pineapple cake and TOBLERONE CHOCOLATE MOUSSE made by Ruth! It was the best stuff EVER, for those of you who know how much I LOVE chocolate mousse! We stayed up late, talking around the table, attempting to learn a Swiss card game, and looking at pictures from the day!
