WELCOME!
I am so excited to launch my new blog about all things 'Up With People!' This blog will be my UWP headquarters where I will give updates before, during, and after my travels with the program in 2013!!! This blog will contain fundraising information, status updates, upcoming events, random facts and tidbits, and eventually posts from the road with pictures from around the world!!! I can hardly contain my excitement!!!
I'd like to highlight some features of this blog for all my readers:
1. Please be sure to SUBSCRIBE to my blog so that you stay up-to-date with my UWP happenings! This will be even more exciting once I'm on the road!
2. If you don't have an account in order to subscribe, you can subscribe via email!
3. A big part of my journey to join UWP will be fundraising. I'm usually not someone who enjoys asking for handouts or peddling from door-to-door, but in my effort to raise the $15,000 I need for the program on my own, I've set up a PayPal account. If during any part of my UWP experience, you have the ability and desire to donate to my journey, you can click the 'Donate' button on the right. This money will go directly to me into my bank account. In the future, I will be giving updates of my fundraising efforts and different ways friends and family can contribute to my goal. There may be some projects/ideas that utilize the PayPal feature, so I wanted to point it out! =)
3a. In my effort to raise money, I've opted to place ads on my blog. An easy way you can help me out (especially if you're bored) is to click on the ads! The more clicks my blog brings in, the more money I can raise! See? Fundraising can be easy (although monotonous and annoying, I know). Word from the wise, however: please don't OVER click as that hints to AdSense that I've got a scam going on my blog! Just a couple clicks every now and then would be fabulous! (Hint: Don't make it obvious!)
4. When you stop by and read a post, please let me know! Take a few moments to leave a comment at the end of the post! It's nice to know folks are reading, and it's a great way to build a connection with my readers! I'd love to know who out there is reading about my adventure!
5. Please share my blog and my experience with anyone you can! The more, the merrier! I've included a link at the bottom of the page so others can Facebook and/or Tweet my posts. You never know who else might be interested in UWP! The more connections, the better! I'd love to meet others through this endeavor! Spread the word! Ready? Go! =)
6. This really isn't important, but I thought it was something fun to point out. The picture I used to create my blog heading is an actual piece of music! If you look closely, you can see that the music notes on the page form a map of the world. If you want to hear the piece, click here!! I wanted to use this picture because I thought it perfectly exemplified what UWP is all about: Bringing the world together through music! How awesome is that?
